About Clara
Salutations! My name is Clara Capps and I teach piano at the San Ramon Academy of Music.
Music is an essential part of life. Learning to play the piano cultivates listening skills, enhances a student’s ability to communicate, brings joy, and encourages personal discipline. It also allows one to share something beautiful with others in an artistic manner.
Besides regularly teaching private piano lessons, I have taught general classroom music classes for five years in public and private schools. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from California State University, East Bay. I have accompanied for the Royal Choir, a children’s choir that has sung in local churches and venues. Playing the piano and organ as a church musician in local churches has been a source of joy. I am a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California and the American Guild of Organists.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, knitting, and hiking with my husband.
Book With Clara“I didn’t want my son to be turned off to piano because of all the practicing. Lots of work but not a ton of play. James brings enthusiasm and joy to the discipline. He picked up my son’s style and personality, and could flow according to my son’s uniqueness/playfulness.”
“My biggest concern is if my kids don’t enjoy and have no progress over a significant amount of lessons time. So far your role as a teacher has been very helpful in making my kids interested & focused on their lessons”
