About Ondine

Hello there! My name is Ondine, and music is not just my passion—it’s my life! I am a violinist, violist, musical director, conductor, and educator, working with numerous organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. I earned my doctoral degree from the University of Southern California in choral conducting and early music performance.

My performance credits include ensembles such as Philharmonia Baroque, Albany Consort, Sacramento Baroque, Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra, and Vallejo Symphony, among others. I have had the honor of guest conducting for groups like the Oakland Summer Reading Orchestra, Community Women’s Orchestra, Awesome Orchestra, and MidAmerica at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, I co-founded “Tea, Talks, and Treasures” at The Pacific Boychoir Academy and serve on the board of directors for Dandelion Dance Theater and Winds Across the Bay.

Before moving to the Bay Area, I led the choral program at the University of San Diego and studied violin, viola, choral and orchestral conducting, and performance practice at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Santa Barbara.

When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking in the beautiful Bay Area, and relaxing at home. I look forward to sharing my love for music with you and supporting your musical journey!

Book With Ondine

“I didn’t want my son to be turned off to piano because of all the practicing. Lots of work but not a ton of play. James brings enthusiasm and joy to the discipline. He picked up my son’s style and personality, and could flow according to my son’s uniqueness/playfulness.”

“My biggest concern is if my kids don’t enjoy and have no progress over a significant amount of lessons time. So far your role as a teacher has been very helpful in making my kids interested & focused on their lessons”
