Instructors

Crystal Casey

Crystal has a BA in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University, where she was a founding member of the TCU Opera Society and sang in the Concert Chorale. Before TCU, she received her Associate’s degree from Weatherford College where she was involved in musical theater and choir. She is also a singer-songwriter and recording artist, with original music on all the major streaming services.

Crystal has over ten years of experience teaching singing, piano, and music theory lessons to students of all ages and levels. She also worked at the International Newcomer Academy in Fort Worth, TX, teaching ESL music to newcomers and refugees from all over the globe.

Crystal enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her two dogs, Angelina the elderly Chiweenie and DJ the Belgian Malinois and retired officer. She also enjoys cooking, spending time in nature, the occasional video game, and reading nonfiction.

Zoe Vandermeer

Zoe Vandermeer has been teaching voice to children and adults for more than two decades. She is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, has taught voice at the Hartt School, is a recipient of numerous grants and scholarships, is a recording artist, and sings professionally in the US and abroad. She is a California native, lives in Connecticut, and is a member of the New York Singing Teachers Association. Zoe is dedicated to providing her proven and reliable method of vocal training to all ages that results in vocal ease, removal of vocal strain, increased stamina, power, vocal range, flexibility, and balancing of the registers for all vocal styles.

She has worked extensively with pop, R&B, gospel, rock, country, jazz, singer-songwriter, and blues singers, as well as musical theatre and classical. Many of her young students have had leads in shows, and received substantial scholarships to Berklee School of Music, Carnegie Mellon, University of Connecticut, San Francisco Conservatory, and elsewhere. Zoe tailors her vocal training to the student, age, and goals, in a supportive and nurturing online environment. Zoe is an accomplished pianist, and enjoys utilizing online resources during lessons such as Noteflight, audio, video and pdfs with screen share. Students are given the tools on how to practice effectively during the week. Zoe loves seeing her students progress and become more familiar with their voice, its capabilities, and the ability to sing music the way they really want to sing it, – with vocal ease!

How It Works:

Fill out the intake form below – including your learning style, musical preferences, availability and more.

San Ramon Academy of Music staff will then use this form to match your child with their most compatible voice instructor. Within 24-48 hours (business days) of our receipt of the intake form, our studio manager will contact you via email to set up your child’s first virtual lesson!

Virtual voice lessons, including this trial lesson, are conducted live over Zoom, with multiple camera angles and a professional microphone to enhance the sights and sounds of the teacher’s studio.
