About Dustin

Hi! I’m Dustin, and I believe music should be a place where students feel inspired, supported, and free to express themselves. My goal is to create a positive, student-centered environment where creativity, confidence, and personal growth can thrive alongside strong musical skills.
I began performing professionally at age 13 as a lead singer and trombonist, and music has taken me on an incredible journey ever since. Over the years, I’ve worked as a performer, bandleader, studio musician, sound engineer, and educator, giving me a broad perspective on both the artistic and practical sides of music. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to study and perform with world-class musicians across a wide range of genres and musical traditions.

For the past decade, I’ve focused much of my energy on education, teaching band, orchestra, guitar, mariachi, digital media, and other music programs in classroom settings. Whether I’m working with beginners or experienced musicians, I want every student to leave feeling encouraged by their progress and excited about where their musical journey can take them next.

I believe music is one of the most powerful ways we connect with ourselves and our communities. It gives us a voice, builds confidence, and opens the door to lifelong creativity. I’m grateful to help students discover that for themselves and find joy in the process.

Book With Dustin

“I didn’t want my son to be turned off to piano because of all the practicing. Lots of work but not a ton of play. James brings enthusiasm and joy to the discipline. He picked up my son’s style and personality, and could flow according to my son’s uniqueness/playfulness.”

“My biggest concern is if my kids don’t enjoy and have no progress over a significant amount of lessons time. So far your role as a teacher has been very helpful in making my kids interested & focused on their lessons”
