What You Need to Enroll in the San Ramon Youth String Orchestra

Student Requirements:

• Ability to play major scales in C, G, D, A in two octaves.
• Solid knowledge of first position with a beginning understanding of third position.
• Beginning vibrato is welcomed but not required.
• Ability to use basic bow strokes including legato, staccato, and detaché.
• Bassists expected to play one octave in the keys of F Major and D Major.

 

Instrumentation:

• 24-42 students:
  • 10-16 violin (2 sections)
  • 6-10 violas
  • 6-10 cellos
  • 2-6 double bass

 

Registration Procedure:

After registration, you will be sent a link to submit a short audition video online. This must be completed before the given registration deadline or we cannot accept your application.

There is a strict registration deadline to allow instructors to assign repertoire to students with 2 weeks before their first rehearsal
